University admission merit calculator and aggregate formula 2026

Calculating your admission aggregate accurately is the most crucial step after receiving your board and entry test results. Every year, thousands of students in Pakistan miscalculate their merit and miss out on applying to the right universities. Our Merit Calculator 2026 guide explains the exact mathematical formulas used by top institutions like PMDC (for Medical Colleges), UET, and NUST (for Engineering and Computer Science).

Why Do Universities Use an Aggregate Formula?

To ensure fairness, universities do not rely solely on your FSc (Intermediate) marks. Since different boards have varying marking standards, an Entry Test (like MDCAT, ECAT, or NET) is conducted to evaluate all students on a standard scale. The aggregate formula blends your past academic record (Matric and FSc) with your entry test performance to generate a final percentage.

1. Medical Colleges Aggregate Formula (PMDC 2026)

The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) strictly dictates the admission formula for all public and private medical colleges (MBBS/BDS) in Pakistan.

The standard formula for 2026 is:

  • Matriculation (SSC) or Equivalent: 10%
  • Intermediate (HSSC/FSc Pre-Medical) or Equivalent: 40%
  • MDCAT (Entry Test): 50%

Example Calculation for Medical Admission:

Suppose a student scores the following marks:

  • Matric: 1050/1100
  • FSc: 1020/1100
  • MDCAT: 180/200

Step 1 (Matric): (1050 รท 1100) ร— 10 = 9.54%

Step 2 (FSc): (1020 รท 1100) ร— 40 = 37.09%

Step 3 (MDCAT): (180 รท 200) ร— 50 = 45.00%

Total Aggregate: 9.54 + 37.09 + 45.00 = 91.63%

If you are aiming for a score above 90%, you must prepare thoroughly. Check out the MDCAT 2026 Syllabus & Preparation Guide for subject-wise preparation strategies.

2. Engineering Colleges Aggregate Formula (UET / ECAT)

The University of Engineering and Technology (UET) conducts the ECAT. Their merit formula relies heavily on your FSc Part 1 and Entry Test scores, mostly ignoring Matric marks.

  • FSc (Part 1 or Complete) Marks: 70%
  • ECAT (Entry Test) Score: 30%

Note: UET uses FSc Part 1 marks if Part 2 results are delayed.

3. NUST (National University of Sciences and Technology)

NUST is the premier engineering and computer science university in Pakistan. The NET (NUST Entry Test) holds the highest weightage across all universities in Pakistan.

  • Matriculation / O-Levels: 10%
  • FSc / A-Levels: 15%
  • NET (NUST Entry Test): 75%

Because NET is 75% of your aggregate, even an average FSc student can secure admission in NUST by scoring exceptionally well in the NET.

Merit Calculation Table (Quick Reference)

Institution / Field Matric Weightage FSc Weightage Entry Test Weightage
PMDC (MBBS/BDS) 10% 40% 50% (MDCAT)
NUMS (Army Medical) 10% 40% 50% (NUMS Test)
UET (Engineering) 0% 70% 30% (ECAT)
NUST 10% 15% 75% (NET)
