CM Punjab Livestock Card & Free Livestock Scheme 2026
Agriculture and livestock are the backbone of Punjab's rural economy. Recognizing this, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has launched a dual-targeted initiative for 2026: The Livestock Card Scheme for small farmers, and a Free Livestock Distribution Programme for vulnerable rural women.
1. Free Livestock for Rural Women
This heartwarming initiative aims to empower rural women economically by making them self-reliant. The government is distributing free cattle and goats to eligible women across 13 selected districts in South Punjab and other remote areas.
Eligibility for Free Livestock:
- Widowed or divorced women living in rural areas.
- Age must be between 18 and 55 years.
- Must have some basic experience in handling and rearing animals.
- Must not own significant agricultural land.
How to Apply: Eligible women can apply through their local Union Council Chairman or the nearest Government Veterinary Hospital. Verification will be done locally.
2. CM Punjab Livestock Card
The Livestock Card is designed to help small-scale cattle farmers overcome the high costs of animal feed and farming inputs. This is a game-changer for the dairy and meat industry.
Key Features of the Livestock Card:
- Interest-Free Loan: Farmers can avail interest-free loans up to Rs. 540,000.
- Purpose: The funds must be used to purchase "Wanda" (animal feed), essential medicines, and farming equipment.
- Target Audience: Farmers who own between 5 to 20 male calves or milking cows/buffaloes.
- Digital Transactions: The card operates digitally, allowing farmers to purchase feed directly from registered dealers without cash handling.
Application Process for Livestock Card
Farmers can register for the Livestock Card by visiting the nearest veterinary hospital or agriculture extension office. They must present their CNIC, proof of livestock ownership (which will be physically verified by a veterinary officer), and land details (if any). The card is issued in collaboration with the Bank of Punjab (BOP).
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
